I actually think Gingerbread Coffin fits Persephone better than it does Frau Holle. And I can see Down with the Sickness being appropriate for your tutelary spirit, too, definitely.

But you’re right, a lot of these songs are very adaptable that way.

I find it interesting that often the same songs will show up on people’s god-playlists, but for different gods entirely depending on their personal pantheons. It’s like certain songs are just ripe for that sort of meaning. Gingerbread Coffin is on my Persephone mix, for instance, whereas Down with the Sickness is on the mix for my tutelary spirit.

And it’s a good balance. In KO, the two big times are early August (Wep Ronpet/New Year) and Wesir mysteries (late November). There’s other festivals like Aset Luminous and Opet, but the Kemetic calendar certainly didn’t work like the European cycles. They had their own. Thank you Nile.

Wow, that UPG is very interesting, and maybe could feed in more to the idea of aspects among the Aesir and Vanir even more.

Svartesol and I have been discussing a possibly theory wherein her UPG of Holle as grandmother of the Vanir, and mine that She is the mother of Odin, are both right…which both hurts my brain and has a very compelling feel.

Yes, you’re lucky that they don’t compete! I don’t think I could deal with juggling two separate trads for just that reason. (Well that, and my jealous Gods. )

Today is also Return of the Distant Goddess in Kemet, but it’s more of a minor festival there. I love that the two calendars work together by NOT having overlapping major holy tides.
